The
Gang of Four
was the name given to a political faction composed of four
Chinese Communist Party officials who emerged during the
so-called Cultural Revolution (1966–76) to power in the
Communist Party of China. It is likely that Chairman Mao himself
hatched most of the Gang's plans; at least, he signed off on them.
But it was often the Gang that received propaganda credit for
the somewhat less totalitarian brand of communism that
was being established. |
If you listen
carefully whenever
Barack Obama speaks extemporaneously -- as he
did the other day in an interruption of his press secretary's
daily media briefing to announce that a "Gang of Six" had
been assembled to hatch a debt ceiling compromise -- he
invariably gives away more of his true persona than his
campaign handlers would ever allow him to tell you.
(I'll leave it
for others to analyze Obama's immediate need to suck the
air out of productive work that was progressing in Congress
at the moment he burst into the press conference.)
Not content
to use non-elite conventional terms like Blue Ribbon Panel
or Select Bipartisan Committee, your self-styled intellectual president prefers to go with arcane phrases
that are evocative
of his misspent Marxist youth, described in his own
words in his fundraiser memoir Dreams from My Father:
"I
chose my friends carefully. The more politically active
black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The
Marxist professors and structural feminists and
punk-rock performance poets...Political
discussions, the kind at Occidental had once seemed so
intense and purposeful, came to take on the flavor of
the socialist conferences I sometimes attended at Cooper
Union."

 |
Last year he
leaked out another good one while his teleprompter
apparatchik was apparently out to lunch. Speaking to House
Republicans at a retreat in the lead-up to the ramrod-ing
of Obamacare, your Dear Leader expressed frustration with conservatives' argument that the plan was
yet another example of creeping
socialism: "...If
you were to listen to this debate, and frankly how some of
you went after this bill, you'd think that this thing was
some Bolshevik plot." |
|
By the
same token,
if
you were to listen to every word spoken candidly by
Obama regarding his version of
the Cultural Revolution you'd be certain that this thing
was, in fact, some Bolshevik plot. But you had
probably already
figured that out from the purposeful dismantling of the America
you once knew that
has been going on all around you for the last 2½ years.
|
|
As regards
the Gang of Six, if Obama
subconsciously chose that term because he senses the
panel would have
puppet-like commonality with the original Gang of Four, providing its chairman a crew of fall guys
should the gang's recommendations fail to work, we
are in far deeper trouble than a mere economic melt-down. |
