There are questions that jump right out at you when you examine the official image (source: Barack Obama's Presidential Campaign) of the document presented as the president's birth certificate a/k/a State of Hawaii Certification of Live Birth. I printed a copy after an Obama apologist from Louisiana suggested, in a tangential comment to my last rant, that I should visit the document to cure my "ignorance" and take out the "birther garbage".
For the record, I have never believed a word that Obama has spoken in the absence of hard evidence, which he rarely provides, but I have never been compelled enough by what the so-called birthers have asserted to get involved in defending or discrediting them, either.
Even after spotting, quite easily, a number of anomalies in this word-sparse document I continue not to doubt that the president was born in the USA. I do believe, however, that obfuscation of some other type of embarrassing information is the reason why more in-depth documentation of Obama's birth has been withheld.

Did you know, prior to your visit here today, that the president is Barack Hussein Obama II? I'm not sure if his name appeared on any states' ballots as such but I'm certain that he wasn't sworn in that way watch video of swearing-in at Obama's inauguration at your own risk! Does he sign any official documents and/or Congress-passed legislation with the Roman Numerals? If not, is he really signing his legal name and is his signature on any of these documents valid?
The birth document lists Father's Name as Barack Hussein Obama – not as Barack Hussein Obama Junior. Why, then would you not question why the Child's Name is listed as Barack Hussein Obama II? Why isn't it Barack Hussein Obama Junior, like any other male child who is named after his father? Was there a previous child born to Barack Hussein Obama who was named as his junior? Note that his father's name is also without suffix in the back-up "proof" – a Honolulu newspaper birth announcement.
Another odd thing about Barack the Elder is that his race is listed as African. Algerians, Moroccans, Egyptians and even Dutch-speaking South Africans are, of course, "Africans" as well. Very few of them, however, are Blacks or, as was a completely acceptable term in non-PC 1961 – "Negroes". If Baby Barack's mother's race is listed as Caucasian then why would the Hawaiians have been afraid to call an African, let alone an African-American, by the corresponding term, "Negro"?
Other non-birther questions might include: Why is the Certificate Number blacked out? Why is there no actual birth location listed – like, for example, Honolulu General Hospital, 444 Fourth Street or in ambulance? Why is the Date of Birth different from the Date Filed By Registrar?
Obviously, it isn't difficult to find inconsistencies in documents and even to launch conspiracy theories from them. But in the case of Obama's birth and citizenship records (required to support the Constitution-prescribed qualifications for the office he holds and to insure his constituency that they have been satisfied) the power to end all controversy is in his hands.
Therefore, the way I responded to that apologist about Obama's "transparency" the other day still holds:
Birther garbage? Even if he's got a real birth certificate, it is a sign of his arrogance and carelessness that he will not step up to the plate to quiet the doubters once and for all. But that's your feckless Dear Leader.
