Carville Validates Conservative
Dissention
|
Two
years ago the GOP and
conservatives were defeated
for 40 years or more.
One year ago the majority of
Americans still believed the
Obama/Pelosi/Reid troika line.
Today there are at least six
new GOP senators -- two
directly from the Tea Party
Movement -- and the House of
Representatives has flipped
dramatically. The troika
is reduced to a president with
his tail between his legs and
an old geezer who was barely
able to defeat a Tea Party
novice. The GOP is in
the House and finally, they
will be forced to change or
give up everything. |
Given that the left may
remain factionary enough
and the right
protest-ant enough to to
further weaken both
Obama's popularity and
the advancement of his
agenda, the 2010
elections could have a
surprising outcome. Who
beside unswerving
conservative drumbeaters
believes that the
present rubber-stamp
Obama Congress' days may
be numbered?
It's
none other than Democrat strategist,
James Carville. Following are a
couple
of excerpts from a recent
congressional candidates'
fundraising
message written by the premier
liberal spin doctor...
"Things were a lot like they are
today. A young, exciting president.
Big majorities in Congress. We
figured we'd have plenty of time to
build the America we wanted. You
know what happened next. Fifty-four
new Republicans elected in the
House. Eight new Republicans elected
in the Senate. Our moment of
opportunity had passed."
"Republicans are hoping 2010 is the
new 1994. But heck, they don't need
eight new senators. If they gain
just one or two, it's going to be
that much easier for them to scuttle
vital legislation."
Perhaps the euphorically youthful
and those die-hard aging
left-wingers will continue to
support Obama under any
circumstances. Perhaps the
president
will get re-elected in a close
head-to-head contest or one in which
a third-party candidate gives him a
second term without benefit of a
popular vote majority. Perhaps in a
best case scenario, like Jimmy
Carter the Master of Disaster, Obama
will end up as a disgraced one-termer.
In any case, what happens in 2012 is
secondary to what will be happening
before and after 2012.
Carville's behind-the-scenes
admonition to Democrats acknowledges
a clear and present danger that the
right could be poised to put a
quicker-than-imagined end to the
hyper-spending spree, socialist
programs and weak-kneed foreign
policy. It should serve as a major
stimulus for the coalition of
conservatives, libertarians,
independents and rational Democrats
to continue doing everything in
their power to enable the return of
checks, balances and fiscal reality.
The fear of a strong message
delivered by strong messengers (like
Rush Limbaugh and his Conservative
Talk colleagues, former presidential
candidates, the former Speaker of
the House and members of the
previous administration) is the
impetus for the demon-ization of
those personalities.
That same fear has also spawned the
liberal mantra created and
perpetrated by Carville and his
fellow spinners that "Republicans
and Conservatives have no leadership
and, therefore, no viable candidate
to challenge the Dear Leader."
Undaunted by our critics'
underestimation and marginalization
here is my five-point plan of
action...
-
We must ignore such nonsense and
stick to the business of ending
the unchecked left-wing madness.
-
We must continue to contact
Senators and Representatives,
demanding that they remain
non-partisan and reactive to
constituents' needs in their
voting.
-
We must lend strong moral and
financial support to
Conservative candidates.
-
We must ramp up the number and
intensity of our public
protests.
-
We must reach out to everyone
with our message.
James Carville once said:
"I
think that America will not trust a
party to defend America that isn't
willing to defend itself."
Republicans need to take that page
from the James Carville playbook,
apply it to the 2010 elections and
run with it.
