The left says Tea Partiers and other anti-Obamists are angry people. Ya think!Originally presented as He reported. You decided. a month before the 2010 elections that flipped the House majority, I predicted in this rant that the electorate's anger over the Democrat agenda and its ineptitude, arrogance and hypocrisy from Obama down would be the cause of what their Dear Leader himself dubbed a "shellacking".  A mere half-year later, they presume that the electorate has forgotten what it was mad about and that voters may actually be buying into the spinful Democrat/mainstream media-manufactured anger over what might happen if their veto stamp were ever taken away. [for example: this video]

Going forward, successful conservative candidates must not only re-focus the electorate's anger, reminding them of who is responsible for their real and present misery, but of how miserably Obama and company have failed even their own supporters.  They must do so by condemning the left's cowardly, hateful spin in the most fiery honest language possible.

“We have an electorate that doesn’t always pay that much attention to what’s going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or what’s happening..."

Which conservative commentator hasn't, at one time or another, expressed the very same lament in a specific reference to the under-qualified/over-liberalized candidate that got elected president on a one-word sloganmantra in spite of the ignored/obfuscated truth about his personal and political life?

It might surprise you to learn the identity of the speaker of the highlighted quote from the Boston Herald. It was a characteristically indignant attempt by Sen. John Kerry to blame clueless voters for the uphill battle Obama-tainted Democrats are facing across the nation.  Ironically, however, this is the very first time in Kerry's life (I'm certain because we are both Baby Boomers) that the majority of voters will be going to the polls armed to the teeth with the facts; with the undeniable truth about "what's happening".

"John Kerry reporting for duty." He reported. You decided.

      He reported. You decided.

Not that knowledge of that truth would be difficult to acquire even in the absence of a neutral Mainstream Media.

Just make a random phone call to any number in any area code.  Listen while the person on the other end tells you that unemployment is as persistently high as he/she can ever remember it being and that a record number of homeowners have been evicted from their homes during the last two years.  It's even money, at this point, that your random respondent will also be able to tell you the precise current rate of unemployment and the approximate number of foreclosed-on homes -- certainly the ones in his or her home town.

Until now in modern Mainstream Media America most politicians, particularly presidential candidates, have been elected as a result of their popularity, charisma and ability to connect with average Americans.  While the list of losers may contain some candidates who would have been more truthful or even more capable than those who actually went on to be President of the United States, the losers are classified as rejects nonetheless.

John Kerry is the perfect example of the worst kind of reject.  He never got it, never connected and never will.

“...I think a lot of the anger today -- while it’s appropriate because Washington is broken -- is not directed at the right people.”

That was Kerry's arrogant, clueless follow-up to his aforementioned comment to the Boston Herald.  Have some fun with it, as I did.  In your most pompous Kerry voice read his statement again and I guarantee it will make you laugh and reduce your anger level for a moment.

This time around Kerry will be rejected yet again.  While he is correct about Washington being broken, he fails to connect with the biggest factor that makes its brokenness so obvious to average Americans.  He is one of the "Obama's plan is working very well" bobbleheads.

Obama yucks it up with his socialized medicine mentor, the late Teddy Kennedy.

Like his predecessor, the current senior senator from Massachusetts may go to his grave believing that he was not one of the failed components in the broken engine that is Washington, D.C.

The Republican junior senator from Massachusetts was elected during a moment when there was not quite as much anger as there is today; a moment when Ted Kennedy's over-extended term and eternal fight for socialized medicine still held some sentimental value.  It is, therefore, now safe to assume that each and every Democrat is vulnerable with just a month to go and a yacht-load more anger before Election Day.

The truth of "what's happening" is that the electorate is paying attention -- and that is precisely why there is "a lot of anger today."

Gee John, if only you had had an influential simple slogan back in 2004...

I do recall several elections when a single event (mini-event) may have swayed some votes. In close elections a little event could push the election in one direction or another.

Dukakis - looked like a dope wearing that helmet and steering (or pretending to steer) that tank. Man! what was he, or his handlers, thinking, with that "great" idea.

Bush (the 1st) - looked as though he was not in contact with the "common-folk" when he did not seem to know what a retail store scanner was.

Bush (the 2nd) - landing on the aircraft carrier. Opened the door for Bush having gone through Undergraduate Pilot Training, and then "had better things to do" and never actually reported for duty and sorta walked away after the Military had spent a million bucks (a guess) on his training.

The list is endless:

Huckabee "Don't Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers" -Jeeze Louise

Obama - Tried to explain why he was not wearing a Flag Pin. Should have just said, "Holy cow!", I changed suits"

Thompson skips New Hampshire to appear on the Leno Show - And Fred has always been such a barrel of yuks!

[You're right about Dukakis. Coincidentally, he was another out-of-toucher from Taxachusetts. Bush #1 lost re-election because of a single event but it wasn't the scanner thing...it was checking his watch during a debate w/the Stainmaker. Bush #2 got elected TWICE. The 2nd time he whupped Kerry by a respectable margin. Huckleberry was right but he should have kept his trap shut. Obama doesn't even know how many states there are so I would not recommend that he wear a flag lapel pin. Perhaps a squirting daisy would be better jewelry for that kommie klown. Now he just takes his jacket off every chance he gets to look more presidential? There's no biz like show biz for Thompson. Thanks for the chuckles.  -ED]

Anger appears to be the stream of the press and while I got no time for it, it appears to be the name of the game by choice. Good Lord, there was a time when things were not so complicated, but we did not have the Internet to sway our opinion(s), but most folks get their news online these days!! Nothing ever really changes but the names even in these distressed times and it will a free-for-all until after 11/02/2010.

Bush was elected twice because all the Democrats had to offer was Al Gore and John Kerry.

Kerry epitaph, "I bought votes better than most" I really have no respect for the guy so anything I say is slanted. Good post Ed. Off subject, looking for the full jingle from the 1940 election about Wilkie...“A horse passes by at a slow pace
Lift it’s tail and see Wilkie’s face.”

Yep, and they acted based upon a skewed sense of security, and they assumed that 52.7% was a mandate. Evidently most within those dem votes in 2006 & 2008 did not have a clue.

Thomas Jefferson understood that elections were popularity contests and that a vast majority of voters were extremely ignorant. And  not just of the candidates and the issues.  He therefore expressed the opinion that only educated land owners be allowed to vote.  As for people being influenced by a simple slogan or sloganmantra, I think Philip Wylie summed it up best when he said, "The people would rather believe than know, guess than learn."  He added they will also eschew the beliefs of others in order to maintain their own beliefs and opinions as above reproach. To me the most disturbing (frightening, really) thing about elections is the unfathomable depth of the stupidity and ignorance of voters.  A condition they seem to feel it is their divine right to maintain and defend.

[Hooray.  There is one success to be counted in Obama's/Democrats' change.  Along with their failed agenda they have also  forced voters to become better informed about the issues -- and they will get to see the results immediately! -ED]

Just goes to show what the liberal elitist think about American citizens. Why anybody would vote for people who despise them so much is beyond me. They mock the very American public whose votes they would trample over their own mother to get.

Cut and Run Kerry...dumped his own man overboard...came back (later) and saved him...shot himself in the ass and got a Purple Heart. I like Kerry, he's one funny [bleep]...

Simple slogans?  9/11!!  Tax cuts for the rich!  Vote for us or terrorists will attack!!!!  That is how Bush got reelected.  It appears that some people here believed the swift boat veterans for truth.  No truth to them.

[The truth: 9/11 was and is a reminder to sane Americans; taxes were cut (for everyone); terrorists did not attack.  Kerry was stopped, in part, by his fellow swift boaters' input but if you look at the photo above you might figure out why they wanted the record set straight.  Whether Kerry is a liar -- or just a clueless elitist tax cheat -- is debatable.  But we certainly know all about that lying sack he chose for his running mate.  -ED]

We know more about the paper boy than we did about Barack Hussein Obama. Just get a load about what his illegal Aunt is saying.  We got what a lot of morons voted for. A guy who has no clue. And is in way over his head.

As to political slogans and electioneering from the Bay State, this gem dropped out of the sky:

"I want people to channel their anger into a constructive force. What are we going to do now, and who is going to do it? We've got to restore the American Dream, and no one in the House has done more for that American Dream than Barney Frank."...Bill Clinton 9/27/10

After that jaw-dropping/tear-inducing statement, the voters can expect the left to be capable of saying most anything in an effort to hold onto power.

Kerry was wrong. I agree that the voters now know far more than they did during the last election. Obama ran in the general as a moderate liberal. At the time many folks said he was lying and of course he was.

Now it is two years later. We have a good idea what Obama and a Democrat majority means. So unlike Kerry I think the voters know far more now than they did when everyone was lying during the election. Obama and the Dems made a big mistake in thinking America's voters supported their changes...instead of actually voting against George W and his cronies.

I don't think the Republican victory will be as dramatic as the far right hopes...it is still very hard to beat an incumbent. Only a month to go before we vote.

I usually have the utmost respect for and support veterans for their service to this country. However, Kerry, in my opinion, ranks right up their with Hanoi Jane and I lost any respect for him after he flung his medals over the white house fence and accused fellow nam vets of being baby killers. His swift boat escapades and resulting fire drawn from his peers validated his cowardice and disrespect which lost him any credibility he ever had. The man is nemo!

It's like the only argument they have left is taking words out of the mouths of conservatives! This is an alternate reality.

And they don't even have enough sense to see how ridiculous they sound... But then you have to consider the people they are appealing to. It's a fact in good standing they'll believe anything.

We have an electorate, at least the ones that voted for current occupant of the Oval Office, that fit the definition of "stupid beyond all human comprehension". They voted for an individual that to the best of our knowledge; 1) Never held a real job, 2) Never signed the front side of a pay check, 3) He sat if front of a socialist activist preacher for 20 years, 4) He consorted with two domestic terrorists, 5) He is a boot licking lackey for unions, 6) "wants to level the playing field" via Government, 7) "Spread the wealth" via Government, 8) "Social justice" via Government.

Those are just the one's that immediately come to mind. The profound lack of discernment in the majority of the electorate is at least disturbing and at most dismaying. They hung their hats on a three word slogan "Hope and Change", but didn't have a clue what it entailed. In fact a goodly portion of His supporters reminded me of the supporting cast from "Night of the living dead" as they lurched mindlessly across the terrain muttering Obama, Obama, Obama.

[Blaming it on Bush is so 3 years ago. What about the anointed one who promised to "change" it and make it all better? And who was running Congress before and during the first worst two years of our lives and the last two Bush years? Did you forget about Kerry, Frank, Pelousy, Edwards, Reid, Rangel, Kennedy, Boxer, Dodd, Clinton, Schumer and the rest? Of course you did...you're a revisonista socialista! -ED]

When a politician has both ears congested with DC BS they fall into the realm of C H W A S and consequently become experts at nothing especially when it comes to listening to and complying with the wishes of those who put them in office.

Hello eddo the ranter, I hear Beck has lost his spot on rant t.V. , perhaps you could get his job. Radical right wing nutcakes want to do away with freedom to choose your own religion. Are you supporting this also? They want to make divorce more difficult, abortion unavailable to ANYONE  FOR ANY REASON. I guess you could call it the American Taliban or the old "wed, bred,l ed" routine with the all wise patriarchal men at the helm. For many, it means a longer time in virtual slavery to an abusive man.
What's up with the Rwing? Will Burkas be next? Obama is not to blame for thirty years of reckless military exploits, war profiteering, and corruption. He just arrived when it all began to tumble. He is not to blame for mostly Republican era mistakes, though he did get OSAMA.
It takes time to get things improved. He needs and will get a second term. And for the extremists among us that want to eliminate the democracy for a theocracy of THEIR making, don't bet on it. Most Americans are not going to want to be told what church they may or may not attend. It must be hard times for the Tea Party, look who they've got running: Reckless Speech Diva S.Palin, and Michelle("our forefathers worked tirelessly to eliminate slavery..")Bachman, friend to an imfamouse history rewriter, who utterly denies the history of slavery, the contributions of minorities in this country. Yes, Bigots want to take "over" the country. "Take back" is just the code word for it. Obama is a breath of fresh air. Mark my words: TWO TERMS, GOOD PRESIDENT.OBAMA.
