Last
year Barack Obama addressed the Congressional Black Caucus'
annual awards dinner at which time he implored Blacks, his
most unshakeable demographic base, to get out the vote
in the midterm elections because Republicans were
preparing to "turn back the
clock."
What followed was a rout that Obama
himself acknowledged to be a
"shellacking."
Nonetheless, the ostensibly liberal CBC picked up a new member or two in the process.
Now, a year later
and as ebonically as can be teleprompted, Obama told the
same assemblage:
"It gets folks discouraged.
I know. I listen to some of y'all...Take off your
bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes.
Shake it off. Stop complainin'. Stop grumblin'. Stop
cryin'. We are going to press on. We have work to do."
One can only
wonder how many Black Caucus members later observed that
their Dear Leader is not only the biggest complainer
among them but that he is also the Black politician with
the most "work
to do"
if their constituents' suffering is ever to be lessened.
If so, one can only wonder if Obama was within earshot
or if anyone had the intestinal fortitude to get up in his face and make
sure he understands who it is that needs to put away his
bedroom slippers...or golf shoes, as the case may be.
Certainly
each attendee wondered, perhaps out loud, whether he/she
is among the "some
of y'all"
that the
would-be marcher claims to be listening to.
In
any case, Obama
awoke this morning to some unexpected good news. It
appears that multi-ethnic Floridians still like people of color and
that they are more than willing to vote for them
(even
those so-called racist conservatives and Tea
Partiers)
in spite of
the president's failings.
The bad
news for Barack is that people are so sick of
him and of Obama Lite
(no racial pun intended)
candidates
that they're prepared to
"turn back the clock"
to an even earlier date -- a time that precedes not only
the transition from the not-so-frugal Bush years to the
hyper-spending era of Obamunism -- to a point in time
much closer, on the political calendar, to USA Founders'
Day.
Strange but true...
Then
there's stuff like this that might never have been said
in the absence of another Black presidential hopeful
waiting in the wings . . .
WASHINGTON (AP) 9/26/11
-- Rep. Maxine Waters says she's
not sure who President Barack Obama was talking to when
he told black Americans to quit complaining and follow
him into the battle for jobs and opportunity.
The California Democrat, a member of the Congressional
Black Caucus, says she found the president's language "a
bit curious." She says Obama didn't address Hispanics in
such a blunt manner and would never use that language in
a speech to a gathering of gays or Jews.
Interviewed Monday on CBS' "Early Show," Waters said
black Americans fully support Obama and are working to
promote his agenda. She says African-Americans want
voters to be enthusiastic about Obama in 2012.
In Saturday's fiery speech to the caucus, Obama told
blacks to "put on your marching shoes" and "stop
grumbling.'"
Never
thought I'd get a quick answer to any of the questions
asked in this rant -- not even a weak-kneed one that's
fit for mainstream media TV.

II...
One
member of the cast of liberal characters about whom I
have written disdainfully fairly often is the lefty
senior senator from my own state, Chuck Schumer
(D-NY). In an odd
postscript to my last rant
An OnStar
call replay you'll never hear on the radio.
it seems
that Schumer shares my feelings about OnStar's invasive
potential. As they say in Brooklyn, go figure...
ALBANY, NY
(AP) 9/25/11 -- The OnStar automobile communication
service used by 6
million Americans maintains its two-way connection with
a customer even after the service is discontinued, while
reserving the right to sell data from that connection.
U.S. Sen.
Charles Schumer of New York says that's a blatant
invasion of privacy and is calling on the Federal Trade
Commission to investigate. "OnStar is attempting one of
the most brazen invasions of privacy in recent memory,"
said Schumer, a Democrat. "I urge OnStar to abandon."
Schumer
announced the effort to force OnStar to "abandon" Sunday
by releasing a letter to the Federal Trade Commission
seeking an investigation...
