Add being born during the first year of
the Great Depression and having
socialists blow smoke at him
for 80 years to Thomas Sowell's
credentials as a conservative American
economist, social critic, political
commentator, author and un-spinner.
The
common-sense genius of Thomas Sowell
makes even his shorter columns and every one of his observations extremely
thought provoking... |

From Thomas Sowell
New York Post column 12/23/10 ...
"When arguing against the tax compromise, Sen. Bernie Sanders castigated "the rich" asking "When is enough enough?" and saying that "reckless uncontrollable greed is like a disease." Such statements are far more applicable to government big spenders and big taxers, who confiscate not only the earnings of today's citizens, but the earnings of generations yet unborn, who will be left a record-breaking national debt." |
To no one's surprise the Soviet Socialist Republic of Vermont re-elected its openly "Independent" senator on November 2nd which made Bernie Sanders as entitled as any lame-ducker to launch an eight-hour-plus minibuster. The only thing that can be added to Thomas Sowell's cogent commentary on the subject of "reckless uncontrollable greed" is that socialistas like Bernie Sanders have been incredibly greedy by glomming so much constituent-paid Congressional floor time to push Obama's minority views during their majority. Near-zero approval ratings are the unsurprising result of the people's anger over legislators' failure to do our bidding. |

"Neither the Bible, the Torah nor the Koran mentions Christmas trees. Yet some secular zealots try to ban Christmas trees on government property, based on the doctrine of "separation of church and state" -- a doctrine found nowhere in the Constitution."

Acceptable? |
Unacceptable! |

"Among the things that have come out in the WikiLeaks documents is that the king of Saudi Arabia has a more realistic understanding of the enormous dangers of an Iranian nuclear bomb than does the president of the United States."
|
Two years later, nothing about the administration's Iran policy has changed. If not for a cyber-virus setback attack on its nuke facility from an unknown source, Iran might be threatening a neighbor nation with nuclear warfare, just as its sister-nuke nation North Korea is doing while Obama apologists continue implying that there has never been an Axis of Evil and that Bush's language was more bellicose than A-jad's and Kim Jong Il's. |
|
The History Channel has some very good programs when it sticks to history. But it keeps going off on tangents, with all kinds of contemporary activities and even weird speculations that are not history.
|
While primarily entertainment programs such as American Pickers and Pawn Stars offer at least a modicum of history learning, the cadre of speculative UFO, Mayan calendar, space alien, crypto-zoological and Bible debunking presentations each drone on for an hour asking the same draw-your-own-conclusion question over and over again -- just prior to each commercial break. |
